A researched surveyed 121 employees for 2 weeks at various times during the day and had them record their moods and emotions. She also asked people to assess their job satisfaction with the various facets of their job such as pay, supervision, promotion opportunities, coworkers, and the work itself. She found that the frequency with which the employees experienced positive emotions at work was negatively related to overall job satisfaction when controlling for their satisfaction with the facets of their job such as pay and so forth the frequency with which the employees experienced positive emotions at work was unrelated to overall job satisfaction when controlling for their satisfaction with the facets of their job such as pay and so forth the frequency with which the employees experienced positive emotions at work explained overall job satisfaction even when controlling for their satisfaction with the facets of their job such as pay and so forth pay satisfaction and supervisor satisfaction were the only variables that explained over job satisfaction
