A researcher wants to know if persons who have gone to prison have, on average, a greater number of tattoos than people who have not gone to prison. He takes a sample of 48 people who have gone to prison and finds that they have on average 1.8 tattoos, with a standard deviation of .50. He takes a sample of 33 people who have not gone to prison and finds that they have on average 1.2 tattoos. The standard deviation for those who have not gone to prison is .32. He tests his null hypothesis at a .05 level of significance.

a. Note a null and research hypothesis in symbols.

b. Calculate an independent samples t-test, to test your null hypothesis. Hint: you must calculate the standard error of the means and then calculate t test. You MUST show your work for your calculations to receive any credit. You can either type in the box or upload your work as a .pdf, .docx, or .jpeg

c. Based on this information, can you reject your null hypothesis? How do you know?
