A restaurant that provides an Entre (Food Station 1) Station, Grill (Food Station 2) Station, and Pizza
(Food Station 3) station. Lunch lasts for 2 hours, from 11:30am to 1:30pm. About 400 students come to
take food during the two hours of lunch. Let us assume it is exactly 400 students over 2 hours, but it
varies over those two hours, and it also varies from station to station. Each student comes and orders
exactly one meal from one of the stations. After students take their food from any of these stations, they
line up to pay at the pay stations. Any extra food remaining at the end of the lunch hour is donated to a
local charity.
Station 3:
During regular class days, the demand for the station 3 is the rest of the demand (that is, total demand
minus the demand for Entree and Grill).
The station 3 is pizza takes no direct labor to serve, since the students serve themselves, but it takes 15
minutes to bake a station 3 item (assume that the oven is large enough). The food costs $1(including
labor), and is sold for $3.2 per slice.
On average, how many station 3 items (not slices) are baking in the oven?
On average how many slices of pizza are on display during lunch time?
