A retrospective associational study examined the medical utilization of homeless veterans receiving treatment in a Veterans Affairs health care system. A sample of veterans seen in the Veterans Affairs health care system (/= 90) was evaluated for homelessness at any point during the year 2019, as well as medical utilization. The two variables in this example are dichotomous: homelessness in 2019 (yeso), and having made a visit to the emergency department in 2019 (yeso). The data are presented in the table below. The null hypothesis is "There is no difference between homeless veterans and non-homeless veterans on the rate of ED visits." SPSS Output for the Chi-square Test: Crosstabs Homelessness * ED Visit Crosstabulation Count ED Visit No ED Visit ED Visit Total Homelessness Not Homeless 57 9 66 Homeless 14 10 24 Total 71 19 90 2Chi-Square Tests Asymptotic Significance Exact Sig.
