A self-administered questionnaire was developed for the current study to examine the influence of utilization of resource on school performance. The questionnaire comprises of three sections where there were nine (9) statements to measure utilization of resources. These statements had been adopted from Mugure (2009); Wamuyu (2013); Fisher (2000). The respondents were required to rate their agreement to the items. Three (3) sample schools were selected in the pilot study. The purpose of pilot test is to improve the instruments and enhance their reliability and validity. The face, construct and content validity to ascertain whether the instruments accurately represent the variables under study in line with the purpose and objectives of the study. Below are the output of Factor Analysis in Table 1; and Reliability Test in Table 2 and Table 3, for the instrument.Table 1: Component Matrix Infrastructure Item Component 1 2 The number of desks and chairs in the classroom are adequate 753 The capacity and resources in the library are adequate for the number of .663 students in the school .613 The capacity and equipment in the laboratory is adequate for the number of .672 students in the school .800 The facilities in the home science room are adequate in the number of students .783 .335 in the school The number of latrines/toilets in the school are adequate for the number of .644 .835 students in the school The number of offices allocated are adequate for the departments in the school .543 .541 The size of the playground is adequate for the number of students in the school .591 The water supply to the school is reliable Recreational facilities e.g. TVs, Videos, Radio are adequate .702 Extraction Method: Principal Component Analysis. 2 components extracted.
