A sex offender is convicted and sentenced to a long jail term. Say 10 years. After serving their sentence rather than being released they are civilly committed and remain incarcerated at a mental health facility?

Is this ethical? Why or why not?

If you agree with the commitment what if any conditions would you place on the confinement? Would they stay confined forever? What factors should be considered?
