A slurry of a crystalline solid in water containing 27%ww water on a wet
basis is fed to a "pusher centrifuge" at a rate of 500kgh-1. The centrifuge removes
70% of the water in the slurry but in doing so it also removes 5% of the solid in the
slurry. The dewatered solid discharged from the centrifuge now enters a drier that
removes 80% of the residual water.
Evaluate,
a) The production rate of dried solid,
b) The water content of the dried solid.
