"Woody Pecker Inc." is a well-established wood manufacturing company in Winnipeg Region in the province of Manitoba. The company is founded in 2008 and has built its reputation in maintaining the highest quality of products and unprecedented standards. Woody Pecker Inc. is FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) - certified and respects the industry's strictest environment norms.
The manufacturing plant provides its customers with a variety of products and services such as cutting lumber, trimming various species of wood, drying green or air-dried lumber, grading softwood and hardwood lumber, preparing various components for wood pallets, wooden drums or interior/exterior coating, to meet their clients' needs and special requests.
Currently the company employs 12 workers on full time basis. Last year in 2022, the company hired a foreign worker for the position of wood processing labourer. The job offer is supported by a positive LMIA valid for two years. The foreign national obtained his work permit and is currently working for the company. 

The company is struggling to achieve their productivity goal and is eager to fill in the position of "manufacturing plant manager" with the right candidate. 

The company immediately starts to advertise the vacant position on Job Bank, indeed, Monster and local newspapers. The advertisement is placed for several weeks.

The job description is as follows:

  • Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the operations of a manufacturing establishment or the operations or production department of a manufacturing establishment
  • Develop and implement plans to efficiently use materials, labour and equipment to meet production targets
  • Plan and manage the establishment of departmental budget
  • Develop production schedules and maintain an inventory of raw materials and finished products
  • Plan and implement changes to machinery and equipment, production systems and methods of work
  • Direct quality control inspection system and develop production reporting procedures
  • Develop equipment maintenance schedules and recommend the replacement of machines
  • Hire, supervise and train or oversee training of employees in the use of new equipment or production techniques.
  • Completion of a college or university program in business administration is required
  • Minimum of five years of supervisory experience in manufacturing are required.

The position offers a wage of CAD $48.5 per hour for 40 hours per week and overtime pay of 1.5 per cent after 40 hours. The position is located at the company's plant in Winnipeg Region in the province of Manitoba.

40 candidates viewed the Job Bank advertisement. 7 were four+ stars and the rest were two+ stars according to the Job Match tool. Seven candidates were invited to apply within 30 days of the job's announcement. Another 15 Canadian Citizens/permanent residents applied from other sources.

After reviewing the candidates who applied, the HR department interviewed 10 candidates.  The candidates were found to lack sufficient experience in wood processing.

For several years, he has been working as a plant manager for a well-known company in Spain that specializes in wood processing. He has dedicated seven years of his life to this company.

He is an impeccable worker and has acquired a supervisory experience in manufacturing. He can speak and write English. He also has two certificates from workshops related to his field. The Canadian company appreciates these workshops and none of the previous candidates who applied had attended similar ones.

"Wood Pecker Inc." is determined to offer Mr. White the position as they are convinced that he will be an important asset among the workers. There is no labor dispute in progress at the place of work that involves "Wood Pecker Inc." The company confirms that this position is not unionized.
