A survey was conducted at Michigan State University in which students were asked a series of questions, ranging from their personal traits to academic performance. We employ all 141 observations in this survey to examine if academic engagement and alcohol consumption have any significant effects on academic performance. The dependent variable is college GPA, noted as colGPA in the dataset. It measures students' academic performance. The independent variables include average lectures missed per week, noted as skipped in the dataset, and the average number of days per week when alcoholic beverages were consumed, noted as alcohol in the dataset. The former variable measures academic engagement, while the latter measures alcohol consumption.
