The results are shown in Table 4. Look at the top 10 risks rated by each group of participants. What factors might account for the differences between laypeople and the experts? For example, why do nonexperts rank nuclear power as having a high risk while experts give it a fairly low rank? At the same time, why do experts and nonexperts rank some risks such as handguns and smoking equally high? Notice that experts rank some risks like X-rays considerably higher than nonexperts do
