As the health toll grows, the economic damage is already evident and represents the largest economic shock the world has experienced in decades. To contain the spread of the pandemic most governments, as well as the government of Lesotho, imposed travel restrictions. As a result most companies were forced to ask some or all their employees to work from home.
Most companies were ill- prepared for the " new normal " of working from home and some experienced a temporary decline in productivity as employees were getting used to the idea of working from home. In your view how should have companies prepared for working from home taking advantage of existing technology?
b) You are a shareholder in a restaurant that you co-own with your friend. Your friend has recently visited Japan where, to his surprise, he realized some restaurants use robot waiters and waitresses. He then proposes that you replace the current staff of waiters and waitresses with robot waiters and waitresses. His main argument is that while the cost of purchasing and installing such robot is high, your restaurant will save kn the long run in the form of salaries and this will bring better returns.
Yout are opposed to the idea of using robots in your restaurant. How would you explain your reasons to your business partner?
