A tray tower is to be designed to absorb S O 2 from an air stream by using fresh water at 2 9 3 K

A
tray tower is to be designed to absorb SO2 from an air stream by using fresh water at 293K. The entering gas contains 20mol%SO2 and that leaving the column should have 2mol%SO2 it a total pressure of 1013kPa. The inert air flow rate is 150kg air ?h,m2 and the entering water flow rate is 6000kg water ?h,m2.
(a) Draw the schematic diagran of the process. (Assume the top tray is Tray 1).
(b) The equilibrium data is given in the Table below. Convert the data into the solute free basis (x and Y).
(c) What is the minimum flowrate Lminin?
(d) Plot the operating line and the equilibrium line based on the solute free basis.
(e) Determine the total number of tray required.
(f) Use the Kremser method to calculate the number of tray and compare tha-sasults.
