A University admission counselor was examining last year's 1st year retention. She was trying to determine if the student's ACT score impacted their 1st year retention. The data is provided to you in the "Problem 2" tab of the HW 3_1 Data.xlsx file. a) Prepare two scatter plots from this data, one showing ACT as the independent variable and one showing ACT as the dependent variable Properly format (trend line with equation, modify equation with variable names rather than x & y, axes labels, etc.) these scatterplots and paste them into the Word document with Figure numbers. b) Identify which scatterplot correctly represents the relationship between 1st year retention and ACT. Write an interpretation that includes a discussion of model fit, as well as an interpretation of the coefficients in the regression equation. c) Create an ANOVA table for the relationship between 1st year retention and ACT that you selected in (b) (using Excel's Regression procedure), format it to show no more than 3 decimal places and remove duplicate columns. Copy and paste it into the Word document. d) Test the regression model for significance. Be sure that in your answer you state the null and alternative hypothesis; the p-value for the test, and an interpretation of the result of the hypothesis test (what does it mean if you reject the null hypothesis or are unable to reject the null hypothesis. e) Predict the retention rate if a student scored 22 on their ACT. Show how you calculated this value, not just the final value.
