A vane pump with power of 20 kW and efficiency of 85% is used to transport water (density of 1000 kg/m3 and dynamic viscosity of 0.001013 Pa.s) to a tank which is located at a higher location as shown in Fig. 1. There are some obstructions along the pathway from the location of the pump and the tank.
(a) Design your piping system for the transportation. In your design, you shall consider several factors such as the length of the pipe(s), the materials of the pipe(s), the flow rate set and diameter of the pipe(s). During the analysis, apply the Moody chart and refinement based on Colebrook White Equation.
Note: you may include joining of pipes, which will contribute to the minor head loss. (b) Based on your design in (a), determine the resultant forces (Fx and Fy) produced by your piping system.
