A VERY UNWISE DECISION It's October of 2012, and trial attorney Nick has had a long day. It's now after dark in San Francisco, and Nick decides to stop at a bar before driving home over the Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito. However, he has too much to drink. He unwisely decides he is going to drive home anyway. He gets in his sports car and proceeds to the Golden Gate Bridge. By now, it is raining. In the area immediately approaching the Golden Gate Bridge, separate directions of traffic are separated only by orange plastic cones. As he enters this approach area, Nick remembers that he left his briefcase at the office. In an attempt to execute a U-turn and return to San Francisco, he swerves through the orange cones to his left and into opposing traffic that is headed into that city. While doing so, he loses control of the sports car. It is rear-ended in a violent collision by another car that had been proceeding toward San Francisco on the bridge. The driver of the other car is killed instantly. The other car impacts Nick's gasoline filler pipe, which is not properly bolted due to a recent poorly done repair. The sports car erupts in flames. Nick cannot escape the vehicle and sustains third- and fourth-degree burns that will scar him for the rest of his life. A pedestrian on the bridge is so aghast at what he sees that he backs away, slips and falls off the bridge. On the way down, he grabs a cable, pulling it loose. The pedestrian is injured badly in the fall. The cable swings into a bus windshield, causing the bus driver to swerve and collide with another vehicle.
