A volunteer organization (You Are Loved) has recruited 4 volunteers to assemble 5,000 packets for mailing to its supporters/donors. The four volunteers are Alice (A), Bob (B), Carl (C) and Diane (D). They need to collate and fold a 2 page letter, add a pre-folded (tri-fold) brochure and a refrigerator magnet, and insert into a standard #10 envelope. The envelopes should be stamped with the return address of the organization, and the donor's address should be added by neatly positioning a pre-printed sticker. Prior to the arrival of the volunteers, the following components and tools have been assembled: Copies of page 1 of the letter Copies of page 2 of the letter Pre-printed and folded glossy brochures describing YAL services Refrigerator magnets #10 business envelopes (4.125" x 9.25") 140 pages of pre-printed address labels, 36 per page, sorted by zip code 2 stamps and ink pads with the organization's return address 2 sponges (to wet the adhesive on the envelope flap) Assorted rubber bands for bundling finished packets Copy paper boxes which could be used for intermediate steps of the process, and will be used to carry the 5,000 packets to the post office Scrap paper, pens, etc. for labeling finished packets and their zip code sorting. The job is complete when the assembled packets have been sorted, formed into groups (held by rubber bands) with each grouping labeled, and stacked into boxes. The non-profit qualifies for bulk mailing costs, and will need to have the mail sorted into groupings based on the zip code. When there are more than 5 pieces of mail that meet a specific category, they are bundled. Better rates are achieved when the mail is sorted into the lowest numbered category in the following list: 1. Same zip code (5) 2. First three numbers of zip code are the same (3) 3. First two numbers of zip code are the same (A) 4. All others (X) The YAL headquarters has a conference/break room with approximately 40 linear feet of table- top space, 30" deep. There is also an 8'x3' serving table which can be used. The room is 30'x20' in its dimensions. There are 20 metal folding chairs in the room. Your group's job is to design a method for the four volunteers to get the job done. This means assigning each individual to a task for a given period of time. Turn in a description of who is doing what part(s) of the process and for how long. Be creative as you consider telling the story of how the work should get done. Is it best described in words, with a diagram, or with pictures? Also indicate how long the whole process is expected to take, including a description of how you estimated this length of time.
