A wage dispute arose between PP Mining ('PPM'), a platinum mining company in Burgersfort and the majority union, Rock Diggers Association ('RDA').

RDA demanded a 20% across the board wage increase and a change in the clocking system.

PPM offered RDA only 7% and indicated that it will not change its clocking system as it is the latest industry approved system.

The parties failed to reach agreement on the two matters. Without following the procedure prescribed by the LRA, members of RDA embarked on a strike action.

Advise PPPM on possible actions it can institute against the striking employees.
