(a) With the aid of a diagram, sketch the main layers of the Earth's atmosphere. Subsequently sketch the variation of (i) pressure, (ii) density and (iii) temperature with height. (12 marks) (b) (i) Assuming the Sun behaves as a black body, determine the maximum and minimum values of the Solar Constant S (power per unit area) during the period of one year, when the Earth's distance from the Sun varies from 1.469108km to 1.520108km. You may assume: Temperature of the Sun (Ts)=6000K. The Sun's radius (Rs)=6.96105km. Stefan's constant ()=5.67108Wm2K4 ( 8 marks) (ii) The effective black body temperature of the Moon, Te, is given by the expression Te4=4(1a)S and it is estimated to be Te=269K. Using the expression above determine the Moon's albedo and compare it to the Earth's albedo of 0.3. You may assume: The solar constant S for the Moon is the average of the two values you obtained in part (i) above
