About a decade ago, Philip Zimbardo, perhaps most famous for the previously discussed Stanford Prison Experiment, wrote a book entitled "The Lucifer Effect", focusing on the nature of evil. In his Ted talk, Dr. Zimbardo summarizes his thinking, and ultimately notes "Bullying is a disease. Prejudice is a disease. Violence is a disease." (Dr. Zimbardo has since turned his impressive abilities toward fostering the positive aspects of human nature).
