ACC 421/602 Accounting Information Systems
Final Project
Background
Forrest runs Y Not Flowers, Inc. (YNF), a wholesale flower distributor with stores in several major metropolitan areas of the U.S. He is considering expanding his business, but he thinks his current accounting and financial systems are restricting that expansion. He also worries that YNF is not adequately prepared to face expected business risks. He has come to you for assistance.
Instructions
Your supervisor met with Forrest and discussed his requirements in detail. At that meeting, they agreed on the following deliverables for your project.
Requirements for the project (Submit your answers in Word but supported by screenshots of your ACCESS and/or EXCEL data. Submit your Word file in PDF and data file separately in Canvas):
1. Based on the summary of the interviews, create a BPMN for the Sales processes.
2. Create a UML Class diagram that integrates the sale cycle and the expenditure cycle related to the main business. (Hints: your diagram should (at a minimum) include the following classes: Orders/Sales, Customers, Cash Receipts, Cash, Stores, Flowers (inventory), Flower Purchase, Flower Items Purchase, and Grower)
3. Demonstrate the data analytical skills you learned in this class (ACCESS or EXCEL) to perform the following analysis:
a. Report Sales, Cost of Sales, and the Gross Margin by stores for Q1, 2022 (20 points)
b. List the top 5 flower names and rank by their actual gross margin contribution across all stores for Q1, 2022. (20 points)
c. Rank the top 5 customers with the most outstanding balance at the end of 2018? (20 points)
d. Create a dashboard, including a chart and table, that allows your CFO to dynamically see the revenue, cost of sales, and gross margin by Store, individually or collectively. (40 points)
e. BONUS: Provide additional reporting/dashboard features that would be helpful to your CFO to increase gross margin. (10 points) (Hints: Students are encouraged to use multiple techniques and platforms learned in class to perform analyses and reports)
