ACC535 Fall 2019 Thursday Class Data Modeling Assignment Learning Objective: 1. Document business processes or business rules Assignment Information: You are the auditor of a company. This year, one of your goals is to evaluate the risk of the cash receipt process. Before that, you have to understand the existing process first so you can compare it to the policies and procedures and perform internal control assessment. You have talked to several people involving in this process and document the process in narrative as below. The mailroom clerk receives the check and payment slip from the customer. At the end of each day, the mailroom clerk passes the stack of checks to the cashier and the stack of payment slip to the accounts receivable clerk. The accounts receivable clerk compares the payment slip with sales invoice and update the accounts receivable master file. At the end of each week, the accounts receivable clerk prepares a summary report and sends it to the operation manager. The accounts receivable clerk also prepares a statement and sends it to the customer. The cashier compares the check with the sales invoice, prepares the deposit slips and deposits the cash every night. At the end of each week, the bank sends a bank statement to the operation manager while the cashier prepares a cash receipt report to the operation manager. The operation manager compares the summary report, the cash receipt report and the bank statement. If all three documents match, the operation manager files the documents. If not, the operation manager signs an exception report and sends the exception report to the cashier and the accounts receivable clerk. Based on the exception report, the cashier and the ac d the accounts receivable clerk reconcile the differences and fix the errors, if any, independently, and send the responses to the operation manager. If the difference comes from the bank, the cashier and accounts receivable clerk send the responses, independently, to the operation manager. The operation manager notifies the bank. The bank fixes the errors and sends an updated statement to the operation manager . Deliverable: This is a group project. The group membership can be found on D2L. This assignment is due at 12pm (noon) on 10/10 (Thursday). No late assignment will be accepted. (1) Draw a business process model based on BPMN. You can do it by hand but please ensure it is clear and "readable" or you can use any diagram drawing software to draw the diagram. After completing the diagram, submit it as a PDF file to D2L (image files may not show correctly so please don't use them), where you can find a group submission folder for the Data Modeling Assignment. Each group only needs to submit one file. Given that there is no one single solution for this type of project, I will compare your diagram with the narrative. You lose 3 points for each missing or erroneous information and 1 point for erroneous notations. (2) Submit a workload allocation form and show the work done by each group member and the level of contribution also to the Data Modeling Assignment group submission folder
