Accountability - Principle # 3 of Public Service Ethics Are any of you graduates of Woodlawn High School is Baltimore County? Hae Min Lee was an 18 year-old student enrolled there when she was violently strangled to death. Her former boyfriend, Adnan Syed (17) was convicted of the murder, robbery, kidnapping, and false imprisonment and sentenced to life in prison. Last year, after serving 23 years, Mr. Syed was released from prison. The basis of his release did not hinge on whether he did or did not kill Ms. Lee, but on a legal factor know as "Brady Material". Your task this week (Writing Assignment 5) is to review the details of the Syed case, research Brady material, and then write about how the ethical Principle of Accountability applies to the case and justify your own feelings about it. To be clear, this assignment is about the ethical principle of accountability. The use of some details about Syed and Brady are merely supporting tissue to the meat and bones of "Accountability".
