Chapter 1 Assess Your Career Progress

1. Think about the courses you have taken that have helped you develop the technical, conceptual, and soft skills needed to meet your career objectives. List three major skills in each category that you believe you will need to develop at a higher level to be successful in meeting your career objectives.

2. Review the description of the remaining courses for the completion of your academic program. Determine which courses will help you develop the nine skills listed in step 1. Note on your list the course that will help develop each skill.

3. Check to see if each of the nine skills has a course listed next to it. If any skills do not have a corresponding course to help you, prepare your own professional development plan by listing ways you can go about improving these skills.
