Selecting Candidates for the position of Marketing Manager in Egypt:

• Cairo Food Co. is a food- manufacturing company with 200 employees, exporting 40% of its goods to neighboring countries. Most employees are from India and Pakistan but 40% are Egyptian. The owner is an innovative and respected Egyptian man. Eight years ago he defined the company’s six core competencies: integrity, priority setting, customer orientation, innovation, problem solving and leadership. Needed behaviors were defined by interviewing staff to identify core competencies. These were validated by comparing them with the behavior of high performers in the company.

• The HR assistant has been asked to oversee selection of marketing manager. Primary responsibilities of the position are to analyze potential marketing opportunities and threats; to establish marketing goals for building market share in Egypt and the nearby region; to establish and monitor pricing strategies; to design, implement, and control marketing programs; to design, oversee, and control all aspects of advertising campaigns; to design and implement marketing and customer satisfaction survey; to coordinate and evaluate the four marketing employees. Job specification include an MBA or Masters in Marketing, 3 years experience in similar position, good knowledge of the regional market, excellent strategic thinking and analytical abilities, and strong communication skills.
