Research accountability report

(Past situation applied to current context)

This is an individual report requiring students research a past ESG issue that may not have been a recognized as one previously and report how it would be addressed in the current context.

For example, how companies dealt with environmental concerns 10 or 15 years ago is not how they would address it today, even if no regulation/legislation were in place. Or digital privacy is now a major concern for many companies and how they handle their customers information which was not a major concern 20 years ago.

Formatting of the report:

12-point Arial font

7 - 10 pages doubled-spaced

Sentence bullet points except for intro and conclusion

Appendices max 5 pages well referenced

Bibliography required

Footnotes used as required

Executive summary (1 page not incl. in page count)

Introduction (purpose and scope) (0.5 page not included in page count)

Research and describe the issue and how it was handled in the past (2 to 3 pages)

Research and describe how the issue would be addressed today (2 to 3 pages)

Explore how possible future changes could impact the company (2 to 3 pages)

Conclusion (0.5 page not included in page count)

Allocation of weighting:

Executive summary (5%)

Introduction (purpose and scope) (5%)

Research and describe the issue and how it was handled in the past (25%)

Research and describe how the issue would be addressed today (35%)

Explore how possible future changes could impact the company (30%)
