Across the country states have slowly been legalizing marijuana (medical, recreational, or both). However, this is in violation of federal law. States argue legalization help grow tax revenue, the overall economy, lower incarceration due to marijuana use, and medical marijuana is good for certain individuals who cannot obtain relief from pharmaceutical drugs . Drawbacks are it is still illegal on the federal level and banks are unwilling to allow deposits from the dispensary etc. for fear of being charged with money laundering. Do you think states should continue to legalize marijuana? Do the benefits of marijuana to the community at large overshadow the cost?
