Activity 1a-MATH 250 Elements of Statistics-Summer 2024 DUE DATE: 06/07/2024 Assessment /15 NAME General Instructions: Please place your name above (this needs to be done on any document submitted for the course!) Then complete the following questions. Make sure you have saved this Excel file often using the filename "yourname Activityla." Once complete, submit your answers to this activity by attaching your Excel file through the completion link in the Unit 1 Activity la assignment description in Blackboard. This is a "graded" portion of this course, a relatively easy 15-point activity if completed on time. Using a quality measurement instrument (such as a flexibleidoth tape measure) and the help of a friend or family member, measure and record your foot I- length, height and armspan to the nearest half centimeter (note that armspan is the greatest distance from tip of one to tip of other middle finger when arms are stretched horizontally apart at shoulder level). You may want to go to the Discussion Board in Blackboard (click on the Discussion Board icon button) to see an example of such data. Since most of the world works in the metric system, make sure to measure distances in centimeters, rounded to the nearest half centimeter. Put each piece of data requested below in the cell just to the right of the description. In the next column titled "Measurement Type". determine the classification of each measurement as either qualitative or quantitative in type. Qualitative data is distinguished by attributes that are not necessarily numeric and are used to calegorize groups of objects according to shared features of to provide a "non-measurement label of some object. Quantitative data is information about quantities; that is, information that can be measured and written down with numbers. Measurement Variable Value Gender Foot Length (cm) Height (cm) Age (in years) Armspan (cm) Number of (immediate) family members Hair Color NOTE: This data will be complied for all sections of the course without any names attached. It is imperative that this activity be completed as soon as possible, definitely by the due date as later activities use this data for statistical analysis work. 2.
