I have reviewed our present orientation and induction policies as part of Happy Children's Early Learning Center's continual efforts to enhance work standards. I've produced suggestions for improving our processes and have pointed out a number of areas that need work.

Activity 3: Draft policy

Your task.

In this activity, you will act as the lead educator. You are responsible for developing a draft policy for the new policy initiatives developed in activity 1 and based on feedback from stakeholders in activity 2.

You are required to include the following in your template:

Use the policy format provided and draft a policy for induction and orientation of the new staff

Identify the service culture, values and objectives and embed it in the new policy Clearly design and define the policy objective

Develop the procedure to implement the policy

Provide reference to the following to provide a link to the relevant legislation, regulation or standard:

oEarly Childhood Australia Code of Ethics

oUnited Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child

oThe National Quality Framework

oThe National Quality Standards, and any legislative requirements

Provide the source from where the information is retrieved, or research is conducted to support the policy initiatives

Activity 4: Discuss the draft policy and procedure

Your task.

In this activity, you will act as the lead educator. You are responsible for conducting a meeting with your supervisor and the group of three educators to discuss the new draft policy developed in activity 3. You are required to explain to the educators how this new policy will impact them and what their role will be in the new process. You will also inform the stakeholders about how and when it will come into effect and provide them sufficient time to adopt the changes.

One of your classmates will act as the supervisor, participate in the discussion, and provide their feedback on the draft policy. Supervisor will also discuss any improvements that are required to be considered in the policy before finalising it.

Three of your classmates will act as the group of educators who will represent the educators of your service. They will participate in the discussion by providing their insight into the new process and asking questions about the new process including how it will impact them and what their role is in the new process.

They will also assist you in identifying the implementation issues and assist you in finding the solutions.

You are required to perform the following tasks:

Discuss the draft policy developed in activity 3

Seek feedback from the supervisor and the group of educators on the draft policy and ask for their suggestions to improve them.

Identify and discuss any concerns or issues in relation to the implementation of the new policy initiatives

Provide notice to the affected stakeholders (educators and supervisors) about how and when the new changes will come in affect and provide them sufficient time to adopt the changes.

Make changes in the draft policies as per the outcomes of the consultation. Facilitate stakeholder understanding and acceptance of changes in your final policy and procedure

Include policy implementation and evaluation plan in the provided template
