In this activity, you will find the most efficient container and package combination to load freight.
As weve seen in the eLearning, we need to configure boxes so that we get as many as possible in a ULD. In the following example, we load a 40-foot container for shipment on a wide-body aircraft. Determine the load planning configuration to get the maximum number of boxes into the aircraft.

We have a standard 40 (FEU) that has internal dimensions of 473" x 91 x 93 high and boxes 36 long x 27 wide x 24 high.
We can put the boxes so the 36 side is across the container and the 27 side is lengthwise in the container. This gives us:
A = 473/27 = 17 long
B = 91/36 = 2 wide and
C = 93/24 = 3 high
1. So if we orient the boxes this way, we can fit:

Volume Fill = Cargo volume / Container Volume x 100 = __________
2. If we orient the boxes the other way:
X long by Y wide by Z high =

3. But an even better way is to put two boxes widthwise and one lengthwise to get:
