It is a specialized software that facilitates monitoring and controlling the programs' execution in the computer and system software. The operating system involves the user, applications, operating system, and hardware. In the history of the operating system, the first computers did not have the operating system. The running program on this computer required all the code to be included run on the computer and communicate with the connected hardware and perform the program's calculation. This created complexity in operating even simple programs. This led to system software development that provided writing and execution programs by the central computer owners. This was the first innovation of the first operating system.
History of the Operating System
General Motors created the first operating system that ran a single IBM central computer in 1960. IBM was the first computer manufacturer in 1960 to work on developing the operating system and distribute the operating system included in its operation. In 1950 when computers could only run one program, the first operating system developed. Some of the common features that cut across the computer operating system include Security management, process management, storage, memory management, Disk management, loading, and execution features.
