Address the situation as thoroughly as possible. Firing Jocelyn is not an optionwork under the assumption that the issues CAN be addressed with the right interventions. Use what you have learned with respect to motivation, leadership, communication and organizational change to provide four specific recommendations to Joe that you believe will help address the issues you see in the organization. Your memo should clearly explain:

  1. The problems you observe in the organization/leadership and why Jocelyn's behaviors are problematic (e.g., How might Jocelyn's behaviors affect the co-workers?).
  2. How organizational issues and management deficiencies might be contributing to Jocelyn's behavior. As the Module Manager, has Joe done things (or not done things) that have exacerbated the problems?
  3. Four recommendations to address the problems. Be very specific about why you think the intervention (X) will address the issue (Y) and what assumptions you are making when you suggest each intervention. It is critical that you anchor your suggestions in the context of the case and support them with material from the class. Avoid overly general suggestions that would be true in any situation (e.g., I recommend Joe be a better leader and lead more effectively).
