ADMINISTRATIVE MANAGEMENT ADM100/E3 ASSIGNMENT
Administrative Management Chapter 15 Soft Skills for Success. Please advise
Emotional intelligence relates to being aware of and understanding your emotions and those of others. Often interpreting body language of others is the key to helping you understand and influence the emotions of others. The ability to assess, manage, and control your own emotions is necessary to handle the stress and pressures that occur in the workplace and to de- velop good professional relationships at work. While you cannot control the emotions of others, if you understand their emotions you may be able to influence them. If you observe body language and listen carefully, you can detect when a person expresses emotion, such as being happy, frustrated, concerned, or angry. Then you can act based on the information you have. Emotional intelligence is a composite of many competencies that are featured in the soft skills and other sections of each chapter, including:
Self-management, trustworthy, honesty, integrity, and credibility; willing to embrace change and deal with stress and competing pressures; self-motivation; self- control
Critical thinking/problem solving Empathy and cultural sensitivity Abilitytocommunicate
effectively, especially willing to listen carefully
Positive self-image, self- confidence
Adaptability and flexibility in handling change
Accept responsibility for commitments
Influencing skills Collaboration and cooperation Conflict resolution
