Adolescents start to investigate their distinct identities as they continue to mature becoming adults. Creating a personal identity frequently involves connections between elements like culture, religion, ethics, and individual autonomy. We live in a very diverse city where many young individuals, including myself, are developing their sense of cultural identity.

Some people may struggle to integrate in culture because they belong to a specific ethnicity. If an individual returned to their "home land," they might be viewed as "too Canadian" for being Slavic, but they might be viewed as "too Slavic" to be totally Canadian. A person may have trouble figuring out where they fit in the world due to this inconsistent worldwide belonging. Many immigrants and first-generation Canadians struggle to build their own sense of personal freedom as a result of this cultural disequilibrium. A person may find it difficult to integrate into society as a result since they are unsure about their place in it. Uncertainty over one's cultural identity might lead to poor mental health. However, once a person can cultivate a sense of individualism and autonomy on their own, they will start to experience a variety of good benefits on their perceived stress, coping, social competence, self-esteem, and general well-being.

I was curious whether anyone has personally experienced or knows of someone who suffers from a cultural identity imbalance. In this instance, how have you gone about assisting a friend in discovering their cultural identity?
