Adrastos, a struggling artist, was entering the local supermarket when a shabbily dressed young woman approached him. She told him that her name was Sonia and that she was hungry and did not have any money to buy food. She suggested that Adrastos buy some steaks for grilling and return with her to her apartment for dinner. Adrastos told her that he did not have much money, but the young woman fluttered her eyelids and kept persisting that he should get the steaks and went into the supermarket with him. Without hesitating, Adrastos put some steaks and other items, after all what is a steak without condiments, in his backpack and without paying for the steaks, carried them out of the store. Once they had left the supermarket, Sonia, who was actually an undercover police officer, arrested Adrastos for shoplifting. What is Adrastos' best defense and why?
