Advantages to technology-based training is cost savings, uniform format, ableness to monitor the trainees, and planning (Ross, 2019, p. 159-160). Some disadvantages are the time it takes to design an online program, limited choices, and keeping the trainee engaged because of limited communication (Ross, 2019, p. 159, p.167). Face to Face training was the preferred method prior to the Covid-19 pandemic. After the pandemic there has been more disadvantages with face-to-face. Timing, personalities, attention span, and embarrassment are some of the disadvantages of face-to-face training (Ross, 2019, p. 167). However face-to-face training can help the learner learn, preform task after watching an example, a better visual view (Dean, 2022). My experience with online training is that it is not time consuming, but it easy to lose your engagement. I do not think learners retain the information as they would with face-to-face training. Part of why I think this is because trainers face-to-face try to keep the engagement going especially when they notice learners fading out.
