R2: Br + H2 HBr + H
R3: H + Br2 HBr + Br
Note that R1 and R2 are reversible, while R3 is irreversible.
a. Categorize each of the forward and reverse (where applicable) reactions based on the number of molecules that must collide for the reaction to occur (e.g., bimolecular, ...).
b. Categorize each of the forward and reverse (where applicable) reactions based on its role in the chain reaction mechanism (e.g., chain initiation, ...).
c. Write expressions for the time-rates-of-change of molar concentrations of each of the species involved in the reaction set, in terms of the molar concentrations of the species involved and the rate coefficients for the reactions.
