Advise Bright lands City Council as to whether they have entered into contracts with Collette and Veneering. 

Bright lands City Council are putting on a 'Summer Fair' from June to September in a local park. They have encountered two contractual difficulties: The council wanted to set up a marquee to serve $500 per week.

Collette was delighted and replied by email saying that she wished to take up the opportunity. However, the council did not read Collette's email as it had gone into their 'junk/spam' folder and Collette had not warned the council that this might be the case (as it had happened before in her experience). Assuming that Collette was not interested, the council asked another restaurant. Collette insists that she "has a contract" with the council to serve her food at the fair.

The council also wished to set up some large display stands at the fair and contacted Veneering Ltd, a local specialist in making and setting up display stands. Veneering's manager stated that they would provide the display stands at a total price of £5,000. However, the manager quickly changed her mind as Veneering had not got the time available to make the display stands. The manager asked her secretary to telephone the council and convey the message, which he did. A day later, the council emailed Veneering, saying that they wanted to "take them up on their offer to supply the display stands".
