After a night of partying and drinking rum, three students in their first year at Lambton College in Toronto decided to take Professor Roger Batchelor's car from the College parking lot and take it for a joy ride. Roger Batchelor had left the keys in the ignition after he was distracted when Micheal Vourakes asked him if he wanted a drive home. Lawerence, Archie and Sanjana were walking after drinking heavily after a great party and saw the car in the parking lot. The door was unlocked and Lawrence could see that the keys were in the ignition. They got into the car after Lawrence shouted "Hey buds, lets go for a ride, I am so drunk I think that I can drive haha". Lawerence sat in the driver's seat and Archie in the passenger seat. Sanjana sat in the back. Lawrence and Archie wore seat belts but the back seat passenger, Sanjana, did not wear a seat belt. Sanjana shouted to Lawrene, "hey buddy, play some tunes, I wanna hear some rap." Lawrence turned on the radio and turned up the music as loud as he could. While they were driving on a side road to Sheppard Avenue they saw a fellow student (Aysun) who flagged them down to get a ride. The driver (Lawrence) leaned his head out of the window and said: "Hey Aysun you are welcome to join us, we are in party mode, but I should warn you that we are all very drunk." Concerned that the last bus had left, Aysun got into the back seat and Lawrence drove on rather erratically. Aysun soon realized that a police cruiser was following the car with the lights flashing. They could not hear the siren because the music was so loud. Not wishing to be caught in the car with a drunk driver, Aysun panicked and yelled out "see ya", pulled open the door and jumped out (while the vehicle was moving) and was hit by a passing car driven below the speed limit by Earnest with Joash in the passenger seat. Joash said, "Earnest don't stop, lets get out of here, the police are more worried about the other car, they won't even notice." Earnest did not listen to Joash and pulled over right away and remained on the scene of the accident. He was very upset about having hit someone with his car. As a result of being hit by Earnest's car, Aysun suffered a broken pelvis and arm. The passenger without the seatbelt (Sanjana) suffered a head injury when the car swerved off the road and hit a pole after Lawerence turned around to see what happened to Aysun. The police officers (Ana and Hardev ) were anxious to get the two injured students to the hospital realizing that they had serious injuries, but not wishing the others to escape, Ana and Hardev handcuffed them both to nearby railings. It was not until the supervisor, Sergeant Jaswinder Singh arrived and told them to call 911 to get medical help asap, that they responded to the plight of the injured students. The weather was very bad and Archie for some unknown reason, appeared to get sick very quickly. By the time she arrived at emergency, she was very ill. She eventually seen by Dr. Preeti Dwivedi. Dr. Dwivedi was very busy that night and was unable to see Archie for several hours. Likely as a result of being in the waiting room for so long with many COVID sick patients, Archie was exposed to and caught COVID-19, causing her death. Sergeant Jaswinder Singh 10. Dr. Preeti Dwivedi. 11. The Hospital 12. Lambton College
