After a night of partying and drinking, three students in the Law class of Roger Batchelor and in their first year at Lambton College in Toronto. Roger Batchelor was the last professor at the school and had left the front door unlocked but closed and due to his consistent forgetfulness, he also forgot to activate the alarm.

After class, Roger thought it was a good idea to take the students to his home and have a celebration for his birthday. He served everyone drinks. The students loved this and drank as much as they could.

It was a cold and blustery winter night and the front steps had a sheet of ice from the rain that had fallen earlier in the day. The snow and ice had been last cleared when the college closed at 10:00 pm. Rajvir and Parmeet were at home after the party, they were drunk and looking for more excitement. They called their friends Harpreet and Flavio who agreed to pick up some beer and pot and meet them at the college. They had intended to build a snowman and party in the snow.

When they arrived at the college, Parmeet pushed on the front door and noticed that it was unlocked. They knew the college was closed, but entered anyway. Parmeet called the others and they all entered. When they got inside, they continued to drink beer and smoke pot. Harpeet was smoking in the bathroom and threw the but in the garbage can, left the bathroom and joined the others in the lobby to continue partying. Soon after, Rajvir smelled smoke. When they went to investigate, they realized that there was a large fire in the bathroom. Someone had thrown out a can of cooking oil in the bathroom garbage and it had ignited. Rajvir grabbed a bucket and threw it on the fire not knowing that oil fires can be made worse with the addition of water. The fire grew much larger, and Rajvir was burned by the spash of the water and oil.

The students heard sirens and ran out of the building. When Harpeet reach the front steps, she slipped on the ice and hit her headrendering her unconcious. The other three saw this but they ran and left Harpreet behind.

Flavio managed to get an uber and the three of them were taken home. Flavio was the last one dropped off and was very drunk by this time. He stumbled out of the uber and the driver left as soon as he got out. While Flavio was walking to his basement apartment, he slipped and fell on the ice and fell in such a way that he broke his leg. The walkway was not cleaned by the landlord since 2 days ago.
