After an overnight falling of snow, Mo, a caretaker, spreads grit (sand) on the pavements outside the academic buildings at a local college campus. Whilst collecting more grit (sand) in order to cover the pavements outside the student union building, a sudden drop in temperature turns the snow on these pavements into ice. Polly, a business law student slips on the icy surface of an un-gritted pavement and sprains her ankle. Is Mo liable to Polly for her injuries?
