After reading Chapter 2: Students will a two-page, typewritten report about an informational interview with a legal professional that reflects their understanding of the ethical and professional standards of the paralegal. Students will interview a working paralegal, practicing lawyer, sitting judge, judicial assistant, or real estate title company professional to learn what a typical work day is like for that individual, what the interviewee's educational and professional background is, favorite and least favorite aspects of the current job, and what advice the legal professional would give to a paralegal student. Students have most of the semester to set up and this informational interview report. While students benefit most from in-person interviews where they spend time at the legal professional's office and shadow the legal professional for a couple of hours or even a full day, a virtual interview over the telephone, Skype, Zoom, WebEx, or email is acceptable. Full contact information for the legal professional interviewed, including first and last name, law firm or organization where employed, physical address, telephone number, and email address, MUST be provided in the report.
