Tom works as a sales manager at a mid-sized pharmaceutical firm called Biopharm. He managers a team of six sales professionals. All six employees work separately for the most part, though not in specific territories. Tom has no problems with four of them, but two of them, Jessica and Jason, are giving Tom a bit of a headache. Jessica consistently demonstrates exceptionally high levels of commitment to her job (along with extraordinary sales figures and high initiative) but seems to be working all the time. Jason does not seem to care much about his job. He misses his sales goals frequently, doesnt get back to clients quickly, and does not show any personal interest in the products that he represents. Tom knows that neither of these situations are ideal, but is stuck on what to do, mostly out of fear that he may make things worse.
