After receiving some encouragement from her friends, Lisa decides to attempt horseback riding for the first time since she was a child, over 20 years ago. When Lisa and her friends arrive at the Happy Trails Ranch, she is introduced to Barbara, A Happy Trails Ranch employee, who will take Lisa and friends out on the trail. Before riding, Lisa notices a sign which says: "Happy Trails Corporation is not responsible for any loss or injury incurred by any rider, however cause." Lisa, being a little concerned, asked for a helmet to wear. Barbara only has one child sized helmet available which is much too small for Lisa to use. Barbara askes the riders if they have all ridden before and Lisa responds, "once or twice many years ago." After Lisa gets on her horse, the group begins to ride on the trail. Barbara notices that Lisa is holding the reins too loosely, and tells Lisa that she must pull the reins in tighter. Lisa doesn't listen.
