Having vacancies on your unit means that everyone is working extra shifts and it is important that the positions be filled quickly. There are a dozen applicants. The top six are identified and interviews are scheduled. There will be four people from the committee at each interview. Interviews go well and the committee has determined that the top two candidates that are equally qualified. When discussing the two candidates, at a meeting of the hiring committee, your supervisor feels that you should not hire one of the candidates because she alluded to the fact that she has diabetes and people with diabetes get sick a lot.
