Aggie Labs conducts standard laboratory testing for various livestock. The lab also processes various RNA tests for cows as an optional add-on service sold to bovine breeding programs across the country. When ranchers are buying top rated "breeding materials" from bulls, bison, and water buffalos they generally want to ensure the quality of the product through extensive testing. Aggie Labs has been trying to exploit this need by offering non-standard RNA evaluation in addition to their standard laboratory testing services. The RNA evaluation relies on a chemical reagent known as a polymerase that is also used by labs as an essential part of covid-19 testing. Aggie Labs sells their RNA evaluation add-on services for $50. Each test requires one dose of polymerase. Aggie Labs had received a major shipment of polymerase using a bulk discount price from a supplier in Portugal early in February 2020. The CEO, Dr. May, noted "we got really lucky with the timing of our shipment. We paid just $10 per dose which was a great deal at the time which is why we bought so much. After covid testing scaled up, the price of a dose jumped up to $200! We could never afford it if we had to buy some today." Dr. May has hired you to consult on their new add-on services business.
