This can allow them to benefit themselves while also brining some benefit to others. A great example of this is seen with the EU. As this whole economy is one of the most unrestrictive each country that partakes gets some benefit. A way this is seen is through their lower import tariffs. This free trade agreement among all these countries allows them to each supply something to the market and exchange it. Making money of the things they make while getting what they need for cheaper then they could without this agreement in place. This type of free trade is also benefited by the common currency of a euro. Allowing for conversions to not be required. Everyone has the same value of currency and allows trade to flow even smoother. This free trade does not bring all benefits
