The military population is 3% which is lower than Health ENC Counties and NC. In terms of poverty, 20% of the county's population is living in poverty. Wayne County's poverty rate is higher than Health ENC region and higher than North Carolina's rate at 15%. The majority of the people living in poverty are white and black. There are also a higher number of children living in poverty in Wayne County than Health ENC Counties and NC. In terms of severe housing problems Wayne County is right in line with ENC Counties and the state at 15%. Only 15% of people aged 0-64 do not have insurance in Wayne County meaning that 85.2%
