Question: For this assignment, discuss the topics below related to the future of leadership, the skills a manager will need to be effective, and what employees should expect in the future.

Discussion #1: (Devin) In your opinion what are some of the trends that will impact the future of leadership? One trend that will impact future leadership is many more people working remotely. Leaders will need to adapt and be able to motivate people remotely. Trying to motivate people remotely can be a very hard thing today some people need to be in meetings physically and some people need to interact with physically seeing everyone. What skills will the future leaders need to possess and why? Some skills that leaders will need to possess are vision and strategic thinking. The ability to imagine a better future for your employees will have them staying with the company longer. Communication and active listening is a skill all leaders should possess being able to communicate with your team positively will have all your co-workers working hard and in better moods while at work. Listening is something I believe is a skill that great leaders possess. Leaders who can listen to the concerns of their co-workers make for better work involvement. What will be some of the differences managers and leaders will face 10 years from now vs. today? 10 years from now I believe that almost everything is going to be virtual and most companies will be run by machinery. The odds of people having to lead might not even be like it once was. Nowadays you still have to motivate your team towards a common goal. 10 years from now you might just have to motivate yourself to get the job done with the robots. How will employees' attitudes towards work and life change in the next 10 years? With everything moving to be internet-based I think that the work-life balance 10 years from now will be a lot better. You won't have all these people having to work 40-plus hours to reach a common goal. We will be able to have robots working 24-7 to do what regular people would have done in a standard 10-hour shift. Have a great week!

Discussion #2 (Brent) Good day class,

I have listed my responses below. Trends Impacting the Future of Leadership: Some trends that I believe significantly influencing the future of leadership include the increase in remote work in our society and distributed teams. Since covid you can see that a lot of business's have found ways to adapt their companies moving more towards an online approach. This directly effects importance of emotional intelligence and empathy in leadership. It also excludes opportunities to embrace our physical diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, things I believe are extremely important to be made aware of when trying to lead a team. Skills Future Leaders Need to Possess: Future leaders will need to possess a diverse skill set to navigate the new complexities of the future. Skills such as adaptability, resilience, critical thinking, creativity, effective communication, collaboration, empathy, cultural intelligence, technological proficiency, and the ability to lead remote and diverse teams. In an ever-changing landscape, leaders must be agile enough to pivot strategies and approaches quickly while staying grounded in their values and vision. Especially if we continue to move towards a more remote future. Differences Managers and Leaders Will Face in 10 Years: Ten years from now, managers and leaders will likely face even greater complexity and uncertainty in their roles. The pace of technological advancement will accelerate, forcing leaders to continually update their skills and adapt to new platforms. The workforce may also become even more diverse, both in terms of demographics and work preferences. The blurring of boundaries between work and personal life may present new challenges in maintaining employee well-being and engagement in said work. Changes in Employees' Attitudes Towards Work and Life: Over the next decade, we can probably expect to see significant shifts in employee's attitudes towards work and life. With the increasing adoption of remote work and flexible schedules, employees will likely prioritize more work-life balance. Which could be a good thing depending on how we adapt. There could also be a greater emphasis on purpose-driven, meaningful work and connections with co-workers and the organization. As technology continues to reshape industries and job roles, employees may seek continuous learning opportunities to stay competitive in the job market. Overall, the future workforce is likely to prioritize their own fulfillment, flexibility, and personal growth in both their professional and personal lives. Which I can see as a bonus for both the company, and the wellbeing of the individual.
