Along the beach in Lincoln City, Oregon are many large volcanic rocks in the sand. At high tide, you can barely see them, but when the tide is lower you can climb around and look for marine life, like sea stars and anemones. I constructed a model G (t) = 22 sin(12t) in which is the number of hours since low tide and G (t) gives the ocean height in feet above low tide at that time. 1. If I plan my beach explorations using my model, do you think I will succeed (meaning should I wear boots or flippers)? 2. Explain what the graph of G (t) will show me? 3. Do you think this model is accurate according to its description? If so, explain using a couple of specific t-values. If not, steer me in the right direction. 4. How would you improve this model, knowing nothing approximates nature perfectly? 5. What would you look for at the beach?
