Although transformational and servant leadership have similar characteristics, there are notable differences. Transformational leaders motivate followers to achieve organizational goals by influencing their beliefs, values, and needs (Collins et al., 2020). Four elements of transformational leadership have been identified. Transformational leaders lead by example (idealized influence), inspire others to achieve a vision (inspirational motivation), encourage growth and learning (intellectual stimulation), and empower others to achieve (individualized consideration). The primary focus of a servant leader is to serve others. Servant leaders allow themselves to serve and be influenced by others (Martinez & Leija, 2023). Characteristics of servant leadership include listening, empathy, healing, awareness, stewardship, commitment to other's growth, and creating community. Both types of leaders show respect for their followers and encourage their growth. The most significant difference between transformational and servant leaders is their priorities. Servant leaders prioritize their followers' needs over the organization's, while transformational leaders prioritize the organization's needs over the followers. Transformational leaders influence others to want to perform for the organization. Servant leaders serve first, listen to learn, and create a community that works together to achieve goals. In my opinion, Neither approach is better. I feel different situations and people call for different leadership styles. There are times to serve and times to take control. There are also times when leaders should prioritize their followers and times to focus on goals that must be attained. The most effective leaders know how to lead for the situation. t meet organizational References Collins, E., Owen, P., Digan, J., & Dunn, F. (2020).
